Open Question: Help please! Want to start a diet right!!?

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

I am extremely overweight right now. I delivered a stillborn for my first baby. I was depressed and the only way to get me out of it was for my husband to feed me. Well… I got fat, tried to start working out and losing weight, but got pregnant again (was trying again of course) and had my healthy son, then of course, tried losing weight again, but a year later got pregnant again (was not trying and was on birth control) so this pregnancy I had gestational diabetes, and that struck a nerve. For the last year I have been working out daily, 30-45 mins, I have seen a nutrionist and have been on a 1200 calorie diet; eating fibers, fruits, protein, and veggies, trying not to eat a lot of meat and adding more chicken and fish in my life. Well nothing has worked this last year. I have actually gained, lost, gained more, and lost some. I don’t know what to do. I am doing workout videos (Slim in 6 video) and doing the stationary bike. I have really bad acid reflex so when I try to run or do the treadmill I end up throwing up really bad. Can anyone suggest any good exercises or videos or workouts that will actually help me out. My docs are military, so they won’t help me with anything at all. I am about 100 pounds overweight and everything I do seems to not work. I get up drink a very cold glass a water before I do anything. I run around getting my kids breakfast ready, and then I workout. After that I shower and try to be as active as I can by taking the kids for walks, going to the park and just playing. I don’t know what I am doing wrong. I need some real advice from fellow peers that has worked for you. Thank you so much!!! All answers are appreciated.

Open Question: Was my workout still effective even though I took a break between miles??

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

So I got 5 hours of sleep yesterday night..and last night i got 6.5 hours. plus ive had practice 3 hours everyday. ive just been so exhausted. so i tried running today after school, and i could only do 1.1 miles straight. i was dying. and then i tried elliptical and could only do .3 of a mile.
it sucked.

so i came home, and tried on my treadmill and i ran one more mile. then i stopped for about 10 minutes because i was so tired and sore. then i ran one more mile.

and i ate dinner..then tried to run more..and i could only do .3 of a mile.

so basically around 3.5 miles ran today..but it wasnt consistent/at the same time. i wanted to do 4 miles straight, because i can do that. but for some reason i could not today.
so i was wondering if my workout was even good and if it did anything for me at all.

did it improve me and tone me up more even though it was seperated?
thanks
im 116, 5′5”, and 17 years old if that helps anything

thanks
and i have had 1300 calories today..all healthy stuff. fat free yogurt, weight watchers muffin, whole wheat turkey sandwich (150 cal), fruit, steamed veggies, and a lean cuisine.

Open Question: Why would my knee be hurting?

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

The pain isn’t killing me or anything, I don’t even need to take a pain killer but it irritates me a little when I start to workout and when I walk.

I do an hour of cardio everday. I don’t play any sports. Am I doing something wrong at the gym? Could I be using a bad form while I jog? Am I jogging too hard?

Anyway I just wanted to find out if I should be concerned with my knee or if it’s just because my legs aren’t used to running very often.

Should I buy something to put on it so when I go to the gym it doesn’t bother me on the treadmill?

How do I know if the pain is cartiliage?

I’m hoping it’s because I’m not used to this activity.

Open Question: Good workout regimen without a gym?

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

How can I get a good effective workout at home. I run on a treadmill for 20 minutes or walk for 40 minutes outside. I also do about 15 minutes of 5 pound free weight exercises and 20 minutes of abs workouts (ie. sit ups, curl ups, etc.). Any other suggestions. I am willing to spend money on some other equipment (nothing like a bow-flex or anything, cheap things like medicine balls etc.). Thank you.

I know it also depends on the foods that you eat. Any good advise. I eat high protein foods and eat pretty much organically.
