Open Question: I want to start working out, but I’m not sure how much is too much..?

I was thinking a one hour jog on the treadmill at 5mph.. And a set of as many sit-ups & push-ups as I could possibly do. Would doing this day after day get me really burned out, or would it eventually get me in shape and feeling good? (running/push-ups & sit-ups are the only workout routines I know heheh)
